Where to put the phone
Phone on the floor or propped low, a few meters away. Head, shoulders and hips need to stay visible; the feet may leave the frame.
Stand at roughly 45° to the phone. The counter still reads the cycle from the front or the side; the angle only decides how much technique detail the camera can see.
What closes a rep
Lower the chest, press back up. The rep closes at the top.
What makes the counter wait
From straight in front, the feet often disappear. That is fine. The counter uses the shoulders and hips to follow the cycle.
One tip
Knee push-ups are a separate movement in the library, so the counter never confuses one for the other.
After the set
Every set ends with the same recap: reps counted, time, pace, the longest run, pauses, whether the second half held up, and the camera angle the phone actually saw. Technique detail is measured for the recap and never used to refuse a rep. Why we count and do not grade →
